Categories of Fire
There are 4 categories of fires to note. They are:
- Class A: Ordinary solid combustibles, such as wood, paper, cloth, plastic and charcoal.
- Class B: liquids and gases, such as gasoline, propane, diesel fuel, tar, cooking oil, and similar substances.
- Class C: Electrical equipment such as appliances, wiring and breaker panels.
- Class D: Combustible metals such as magnesium, titanium, and sodium. (These fires burn at extremely high temperatures and require special suppression agents)
